Thinking and talking about politics is quite unpopular with young people these days. But is that acceptable, especially given the circumstances we live in today and the bleak future that everyone talks about?

We are continuously bombarded by the news regarding irregularities, if not scandals, which involve members of political parties, even the Prime Minister and the President themselves. Many politicians regularly spread hatred on social media, which is then published and commented on. How many times have we heard stories of corruption, if not from the media, then from our parents? As a result, we do not believe in the integrity of politicians, because they have failed us again and again.

Although each citizen has the right to vote once they have turned 18, only a minority of us exercise that right. In that way, we allow our older generations to decide who is going to lead our country. By avoiding elections, we agree to their terms and conditions. However, every generation has an opportunity to make a difference, to start moving in the right direction, to think with their fresh and young minds. We should be the ones to recognize the individuals within our society who would be able to lead our way and to save the values that are important in our time.

Every few years, several political parties try to attract voters with colorful jumbo posters, flyers and eloquent speeches. But there is more to politics. When we elect a government that will serve the people rather than themselves, there might be more hope for the future.
